Happy Cyber Monday 2012! Here’s my deal for you.
This is a piano beat with powerful strings that come in during the verse sections. The hook has a catchy synth lead backed up by the strings and a synth pad. There are chimes in the beginning and end of the song. I will admit, I’m not sure I’m feelin’ the snare drum too much, but the overall feel of the drums fits the melody I think. I could have layered the snare with another, but I decided not to!
The intro is quite similar to the Bonita instrumental, as the strings and a few chimes bring the song in.

Here’s a little change in speed. I have been working with more R&B lately, although I usually confuse every other genre with some sort of alternative hip hop. I’m crazy. But anyway, there’s more pianos here and a simple synth pad to back them up. Nothing much. Some phasing effects as well as a little pitch bending here and there.
I figured this could buy me some time to work on these new beat tapes!

Here is a super-simple beat for you. The verse’s are almost identical except for a few very minor differences. The hooks are also pretty much alike. There’s really not much to this.
There are literally 3 instruments that I used here – A guitar, some strings and an electric piano. The drums are fairly simple, with a steady tambourine track behind them. There is no real bass besides whatever low frequencies the drums provide. Three 16 bar verses.

This is an older beat that I’ve been sitting on all year. I’ve been very hesitant to share this as it has a few issues. I had actually decided NOT to ever share this and I had simply put it in the trash pile, never to be listened to again. Well, it’s back.
I’ve been battling with the phasing issues for a while and cannot figure out how to (post-recording) fix the problem. I did not do a very good job mixing the beat before recording, so you may have some frequencies clashing in there somewhere. This can introduce what I call “mud.”
This is a cool instrumental I think, but it just didn’t come out as I had originally planned. So I sat on it for a while until I built up enough courage to share it with you! So take it as is!
