This is another short and creepy intro style instrumental. There’s not much space for vocals as I made this with something else in mind.

The atmosphere is creepy.

Enjoy.

This is a very different instrumental, one of which was previously unreleased. This song was written specifically as film music, so it is packed full of feeling.

This one tugs on your heart strings a little, as it is very rainy and sad. The scene was set in the beginning with the crowd and thunder effects. Lots of effects used throughout.

The main melody is from an electric guitar, backed by an orchestra string ensemble, some guitar harmonics, and another heavy string section.

This version has not been mastered.

I hope you enjoy.

Tempo: 70 bpm

This is the second instrumental in a series of beats that represent each month of the year.

This beat is full of various synth instruments, one of which being the main arp synth which has been filtered to death. I automated the filter while I swept through the frequencies and came up with that spaced out weird sound.

The drums are a little different. I didn’t want to do the same kind of pattern this time, so I threw some off snares in there and changed up the groove a little.

The sub bass is deep so be careful. I hope it’s not too loud, and I hope it’s not too low!

Stay tuned for more and enjoy!

Tempo: 60 bpm

Someone asked me to make a beat out of a song by The XX called Fiction.

He asked me to make it into a Hip Hop beat, and I have to say it came out a little different than that. But I can’t help but let the music take me where it wants to go, so this is what I came up with.

I saw no need to ruin the already beautiful music by The XX, so I didn’t slow anything down or manipulate anything too much. I really just added what I felt over top of the short clip from the song.

Enjoy!

This is my doomed attempt at doing another Rock beat. My idea was to create a sort of build up effect before it throws you back into the beat. I got it started but I didn’t build it up enough. And when the beat kicks in, the energy level doesn’t seem to match the actual build up. So anyway, I shall try again soon. For now, this is what I could make out of this.

This is Acoustic Rock / Hip Hop Attempt #1.

Ok this was actually something different that I forced myself to try, so this will fall under the experimental category. I have no idea what genre this would fall under. Can anyone let me know what they think? My purpose for doing this was that I’m trying to think differently and use sounds that I’ve never used before.

I don’t know a whole lot about the general Rock genre or it’s huge lot of sub genres. So This came out a little bland with respect to the arrangement . The drums and main guitar riff don’t change much but it’s a start. I think once I can learn more about what actually goes into a rock song, I can start to incorporate that into my hip hop and start blending the two a little better.

When I hear this, the first thing that comes to mind is someone telling a story about an angry man. And apparently his name is John…

Thanks for listening, all comments are appreciated!

Here’s another experimental beat. Very short and simple. Just a little Al Green and my drums. All there is to it. No special filters (except a high pass on the organ chops), no special effects. I layered a few chops and programmed my drums over it.

The drums were recorded with no timing. The sample is really difficult because it naturally speeds up and slows throughout the loop. So I had to specifically place the drums where they would fit which created this really off feel. So rappers beware!

As simple as this sounds, it was really a challenge getting the drums together and in a suitable pattern that worked with the sample. Really good practice for me so I hope it came out ok.

This beat was made in FL Studio 10.

Tempo: 93 bpm

I was just playing around layering some breakbeats lol. I never intended to make a beat, I just recorded this real quick so you can hear what I was messin with. Literally just a guitar, bass and 2 breakbeats.

Main riff is in B key.
Bass is E key.

I played along with this extremely short guitar riff. All sounds came from a Triton except for the bass which I played with a deep tone. I kept it very simple, I think it’s hip hop. Hope you like.

Key is in A.

This is a different one. Kay Starr is a popular old school 40′s and 50′s jazz singer. Someone challenged me to try to flip this original song, so I did. There’s really not much to it as far as samples and instruments. It’s rather simple in that sense. There’s some post effects that I threw in there to try to spice it up a bit.

It was hard trying to figure out the key of the bass (which I never really did). I believe it’s in the key of E, which is what the electric guitar is in. So I hope the notes blend well enough. Enjoy.

From MPC Beats (Vol. 1).

A very short intro style beat. At the time, I had bought a new digital mixer – Behringer DDX3216 – and thought I would play around with all the nice effects that you can create with it.

This started as an experiment and ended as a pretty cool sounding hip hop beat. Enjoy.
